Activity Plan 8: Making a Pyramid

And Placing Your New Snacks in their Food Groups

Teacher and two students examine healthy snack foodsGrade Level: 3rd Grade

Duration:
I class of 45 minutes

Materials: Samples of snacks, the chart of Federal nutritional guidelines, construction paper, sand paper and or felt paper (for different textures) to construct the pyramid using different shapes for each food group.

Objectives and Outcomes: Students learn to place their food/snacks in the proper food group. They should be able to gauge how to eat healthier, and how and when to eat the right food
 

Assessment: Active participation in all aspects of class activities

Songs: Play and sing along with the students
What We Eat  (to be written)

Follow-up lesson: Prepare a New Snack/Meal and Place it in its Proper Category
