Art Beyond Sight - Laboratory for Learning

Students at PS 201 are busy writing songs and learning so many new things!

In Mrs. Fiske’s classroom, Leigha, Dean, Joshua, Timothy, and Andres are busy learning how to zip, zip, zip their jackets and tie, tie, tie their shoes!  Miss Shawna has come up with some creative lyrics to help the students learn the exact steps to these activities of daily living.  These students LOVE singing along, and often are found warming up their fingers with other various fine motor skill music experiences!

Over in Mrs. Agati’s classroom, Yung-Zen, Shalim, Destiny, Kethan, and Maiesha are busy writing songs and talking about bullying and standing up for themselves!  They wrote a beautiful song which articulates not only excellent vocabulary (which is part of their core cirriculum at PS 201), but also the kindness, warmth, and genuine helpfulness of the group of children.  Here’s the song below:

Hey there, hi there, we’re the good guy bregade!

Hey there, hi there, we’re the good guy bregade!

We’re kind, we’re good, we care for everyone.

We love them and we’re never gonna let them down,

Always choosing to do the right thing,

Always choosing to do the right thing.

We’re never gonna let our families down,

We’re going to be there for our friends,

And nothing’s gonna stop us now.

Hey there, hi there, we’re the good guy bregade!

Hey there, hi there, we’re the good guy bregade!

We’re kind, we’re good, we care for everyone.

We’re spreading the word around the countryside,

Be part of your community too!

We’ll cross the ocean to the other side,

Spread the new for you and me!

Hey there, hi there, we’re the good guy bregade!

Hey there, hi there, we’re the good guy bregade!

We’re kind, we’re good, we care for everyone.

Both classes are so looking forward to their visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, set for February 14th!
