To identify strategies needed to create a museum environment that:

  • complies with the letter and spirit of the ADA, the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • is accessible and welcoming for all museum visitors.

The module gives a brief overview of the ADA and other relevant legislation. It also identifies violations to the ADA that may be found in museums, options for removing barriers to promote inclusion, and best practices that align with the letter and spirit of the ADA.

This introduction to universal design could be used in classes dealing with exhibitions, education, communication, management, and communities.
