Module 3 – Communicating and Interacting with People with Disabilities

Objective

To promote best practices for assisting, interacting, and communicating with people from disability communities to ensure the best possible visitor experience for all museum visitors.

Overview

This module features hands-on, practical information for those studying for a career in museums, or those who are currently working in museums. This information is also applicable to zoos, aquariums and any Title III institution. It provides a backdrop for understanding what the experience of going to a museum is like for people with disabilities.

It could be used in classes about museum management, communication, museum education, museum audiences or museums and their communities, and museum methods, among others.
